Aerial Silks Classes

Duration: 1-hour

Ages: 10 and up (including ADULTS)

*9 year olds- Assessment required if there is availability  

To ensure the highest level of safety and individualized attention, we maintain a low student-to-instructor ratio of 5:2, with a maximum of five students per class.

Each class is led by a lead flight instructor and always supported by a flight assistant. While the industry standard in aerial arts is typically a 6:1 ratio—sometimes extending to 8:1 and often without additional assistance, similar to what you may find at other studios or gyms—we intentionally exceed those standards.

We believe aerial silks is a highly specialized discipline with an increased level of risk, requiring more individualized attention and a higher level of instructor support to ensure both safety and proper skill development.

By keeping class sizes small and providing additional instructional support, we are able to:

Prioritize safety above all else

Support each student’s individual pace

Effectively integrate multiple skill levels within the same class

Reduce turnover, allowing for stronger connections and consistency

Help students excel more efficiently in both skill and technique

Each class is one hour in duration and thoughtfully structured to include:

Stretching

Mild conditioning

Warm-up

Skill work and review

Practice time

End-of-class improvisation

Classes also incorporate routines and sequences designed to build endurance, stamina, and creativity. Students learn how to connect skills and transition between them, using their creativity to begin building their own routines.

Students have the opportunity to perform in our optional aerial showcases, held in both the spring and fall. These performances provide an inspiring and supportive environment where students can bring their skills to life.

Developing routines helps students:

Understand and create choreography on the silks

Transition smoothly between skills

Perform with intention and confidence

Build endurance and stamina

Strengthen muscle memory

Reinforce retention of wraps and pathways

We continually challenge students to execute skills with control, confidence, and proper technique.

Above all, we prioritize quality over quantity, ensuring every skill is performed safely, consistently, and with confidence
